TD Ameritrade does everything right but falls flat with poor trade execution under certain conditions for limit trades. It might be somewhat harsh for me to knock TD Ameritrade for a single issue but when other services execute limit trades flawlessly, I have a hard time recommending TD Ameritrade to anyone. If this flaw was fixed I would gladly recommend the service but as is, it is a fatal flaw in my view.

Their quoting servers have delayed quotes that freeze. They’ve had this issue for over half a year and are JUST beginning to work on the problem. I’ve been in contact with their customer service for over 6 months and all they tell me is that they are working on the issue. This is very poor customer service.

What can I say TD Ameritrade has a terrible quoting system, as another person quoted above. I lost over $800 because my order did not execute properly, then they tried to tell me it was my fault. One month later I put in a limit order to sell all my share of a stock and it only sold half, I had to sell the other half at market price. Also they charged me double commission. These people are scammers, it better to pay an extra dollar or two and get reliable, honest, and accurate service. DO NOT GO WITH AMERITRADE THEY LURE YOU IN WITH THEIR CHEAP RATES.

TD makes me more money than other discount brokers I have tried. The suite of tools that they have are fantastic, and are more stable than any I have tried. As an APEX member, I get free level II quotes, free news, free analysis, and more extras than I can keep track of.
My trades execute faster than the other brokers I have tried, and I have a higher rate of getting my limit orders completed.
Their live quotes can get bogged down for a few seconds (usually beteen 10 and 60 secinds) during extremely high volume. If the market is open, I am working in Command Center. On a regular day, I will see this delay happen maybe 4 times. I guess this does not bother me as much as the other reviewers because you have to have a live system like TDs for it to get bogged down, and I have not found anyone to have anything like it.
Listen, I have made about every mistake that can be made, and worked with more than my share of brokers. Stuff is going to happen. Most people that are going to actively trade are going to do it for a short time, lose money, and be bitter about the whole experience. I have less things go wrong with TD than any other broker I have used over the years. $10 for a great system is cheap, folks. I feed my family trading, and feel that I can do that easier with TD.

We have had many problems with TD-Ameritrade,including strange discrepancies in balances, backing out of trades and not trading at market value. We do not recommend this company and are wondering if others are having any of these problems.

Their StategyDesk and regular order system are not integrated and create unbalanced situations forcing you to break short trades before you can sell.
I chose the $amount option to buy $25000 worth of stock. One system calculated this to mean 1656 shares and the other one bought 1655 shares. At sell time the system was trying to sell 1656 shares and botched the trade. a SHORT ORDER FOLLOWED and I had both Long and Short positions. Cost me $805 to fix the errors and they gave me 3 free trades. Like a slap in the face for their own error.

The above situation occurred on 3/26. Customer support continued to accuse me of entering duplicate orders as the cause of the problem. Being an IT person myself I asked a bunch of questions and turns out that if you enter two alerts in different accounts, they strip the account information and sure enough they end up with duplicate alerts. A huge oversight in design. Worse is that they have stopped answering all my emails and the support person said his last words.. “it is out of his hands and in the Presidents Office” which is not communicating. I think they have serious difficulties admitting a mistake. what an egotistical firm.

Strategy Software was good. Their server run slow and sometimes it’s down. My computer keep got disconnect from their server and quote delayed compare to E trade.
When you email to them to complain, they don’t go to the point and paste to your email rule and condition.
